Description
This degenerative joint disease occurs when the cartilage that cushions the ends of bones gradually deteriorates. It predominantly affects older adults, though obesity and repetitive joint stress from certain lifestyles can accelerate its onset. The loss of cartilage results in bone rubbing directly on bone, causing severe pain.
