Description
The labrum is a thick piece of rubbery cartilage attached to the rim of the shoulder socket that helps keep the ball of the joint securely in place. A tear can occur from a sudden, forceful pull on the arm, a direct blow to the shoulder, or repetitive overhead motions like pitching a baseball. The injury disrupts the stability and smooth mechanical movement of the shoulder complex.
