Intervertebral Disc Herniation (CLINICAL)
Description
A herniated disc occurs when the jelly-like nucleus pulposus of an intervertebral disc is forced out through a tear in its tough, rubbery exterior annulus. This structural failure is often caused by heavy, improper lifting, acute trauma, or gradual age-related degeneration. The extruded disc material frequently compresses and chemically irritates adjacent spinal nerves, causing severe radicular symptoms.
