Definition

Partial or total loss of sensation/touch, tingling, numbness, or prickling sensation ("pins and needles"), or unpleasant or abnormal sensations. Common causes are nerve compression (e.g., sleeping on an arm, "falling asleep"), peripheral neuropathy (often due to diabetes), carpal tunnel syndrome, multiple sclerosis or stroke, vitamin deficiencies (e.g., B12)
