Description
Pathological autoantibodies block, alter, or destroy the critical acetylcholine receptors located at the neuromuscular junction. This severely impairs the ability of motor nerves to transmit movement commands to the associated skeletal muscles. It affects individuals of all ages and is uniquely characterized by muscle weakness that worsens after exertion and improves with rest.
