Difficulty or discomfort in swallowing solid foods or liquids.
Clinical Details
Chronic acid exposure causes relentless inflammation and scarring of the esophageal tissue. Over time, this scar tissue thickens and forms strictures, physically narrowing the swallowing tube. Food may feel like it is stuck in the chest, requiring liquids to wash it down.
