Description
A dislocated finger occurs when extreme force bends the finger backward or twists it, forcing the bones completely out of the knuckle joint. This typically happens when a ball strikes the tip of an outstretched finger or when the finger gets caught in a jersey or equipment. The trauma stretches and tears the collateral ligaments stabilizing the sides of the joint.
