Definition
The inability to bend or straighten the finger joint.
Clinical Details
Because the mechanical hinge of the knuckle is disconnected, the finger becomes physically stuck in its deformed position. The patient completely loses the ability to voluntarily flex or extend the injured digit. Attempting to pull or force it straight without medical training causes excruciating pain.
