Description
A coccyx fracture is a painful injury involving a crack in the fused bones at the base of the vertebral column. It almost universally occurs when a person slips and falls forcefully directly onto their buttocks on a hard surface, such as falling backward on ice or slipping on stairs. While it heals on its own, the recovery process is notoriously long and uncomfortable.
