Severe discomfort when sitting down.
Clinical Details
The hallmark symptom is intense, sharp pain localized directly at the base of the spine that drastically worsens when placing body weight on it by sitting. Sitting on hard surfaces is often unbearable, forcing the patient to lean forward or sit on one cheek. Special donut-shaped pillows are frequently required for relief.
