Prader-Willi Syndrome (CLINICAL)
Description
This syndrome is caused by the loss of function of specific genes in a particular region of chromosome 15 that are normally inherited from the father. This genetic imprinting error disrupts normal hypothalamic function, leading to hormonal imbalances, developmental delays, and behavioral problems. It is a leading genetic cause of life-threatening childhood obesity.
