Definition

An abnormally increased appetite for food, often leading to extreme overeating.

Clinical Details

Due to a dysfunction in the hypothalamus, the brain fails to register the sensation of fullness or satiety. This creates a relentless, overwhelming physiological drive to eat, often leading to hoarding food and rapid, massive weight gain.
