Subacute Combined Degeneration Of The Spinal Cord (CLINICAL)
Description
Unlike pernicious anemia which affects the blood, this neurological manifestation of B12 deficiency directly targets the myelin sheaths of the central nervous system. It primarily destroys the posterior and lateral columns of the spinal cord, permanently disrupting sensory and motor signaling pathways. If not aggressively treated with vitamin B12, the ascending neurological damage becomes completely irreversible.
