Description
Rickets is predominantly caused by an extreme and prolonged deficiency of vitamin D, which impairs the body's ability to absorb calcium and phosphorus. It almost exclusively affects growing children, particularly those with limited sun exposure or dietary restrictions. The inadequate mineralization of bone tissue leads to distinct skeletal deformities.
