Description
Fuchs' Dystrophy targets the endothelial cells of the cornea, which act as a vital pump system to keep fluid out of the cornea, maintaining its transparency. As these cells slowly degenerate and die, fluid begins to build up, causing the cornea to swell and become cloudy. It is a bilateral, often inherited condition that typically does not cause noticeable vision problems until patients reach their 50s or 60s.
