Description
An enterovirus transmitted through the fecal-oral route, it primarily multiplies in the intestines before occasionally entering the bloodstream. It overwhelmingly affects unvaccinated children under five years of age in endemic regions. While most cases remain asymptomatic, the virus can aggressively target and destroy motor neurons in the spinal cord.
