Fragile X Syndrome (CLINICAL)

Description

This syndrome is caused by a mutation in the FMR1 gene on the X chromosome, where a DNA segment known as the CGG triplet repeat is expanded. The expansion turns off the gene, preventing the body from producing FMRP, a protein crucial for normal brain development. It affects males more severely than females.
