Description
Cuff Tear Arthropathy occurs when a chronic, massive rotator cuff tear is left untreated, causing the humeral head (the ball of the shoulder) to migrate upward and rub against the acromion bone. This altered joint mechanics leads to the rapid destruction of the articular cartilage and progressive joint deterioration. It is a complex degenerative condition that primarily afflicts the elderly population.
