Definition
The inability to actively raise the arm, mimicking nerve damage or true paralysis.
Clinical Details
Because the mechanical stabilizing force of the rotator cuff is completely absent, the deltoid muscle simply pulls the arm bone upward into the socket roof instead of lifting it outwards. The patient physically cannot raise their arm above shoulder level.
