Description
Facet Arthropathy involves the breakdown of the protective cartilage lining the small, stabilizing facet joints located between the vertebrae. As the intervertebral discs thin with age, more mechanical load is shifted onto these posterior joints, accelerating their wear and tear and causing bone spurs to form. It is a major cause of chronic back and neck pain in older adults.
