Description
This therapy provides an exogenous source of acid alpha-glucosidase (GAA), which binds to mannose-6-phosphate receptors on the cell surface and is internalized into lysosomes. Once inside, it cleaves glycogen into glucose, reducing toxic lysosomal glycogen accumulation in muscle tissues.
