Description
Zinc acetate induces the production of metallothionein, a metal-binding protein, in the enterocytes of the intestinal lining. This protein binds dietary copper with high affinity, trapping it in the gut cells until they naturally slough off and are excreted in the feces, maintaining a negative copper balance.
