Description
Racemic epinephrine acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors in the mucosal blood vessels of the airway, causing pronounced vasoconstriction. This rapidly decreases the edema of the laryngeal mucosa, widening the airway and quickly relieving inspiratory stridor.
