Description
Lobelia contains an alkaloid called lobeline, which acts as a strong relaxant on the smooth muscles surrounding the bronchial tubes. By breaking the acute muscle spasms associated with asthma, it allows the narrowed airways to dilate and dramatically improves airflow. Due to its potency, it is traditionally administered in very small, carefully measured drop doses to prevent extreme nausea.
