Description
Marshmallow root contains a very high percentage of complex carbohydrates known as mucilage. When steeped in cold water, these polysaccharides swell into a thick gel that directly coats the irritated lining of the throat and upper bronchioles. This protective barrier dramatically reduces the urge to cough and allows the inflamed tissues to heal.
