Description
Apixaban works by selectively inhibiting Factor Xa, a crucial enzyme in the blood coagulation cascade. By blocking this factor, it decreases thrombin generation and prevents existing clots from growing larger. This allows the body's natural fibrinolytic mechanisms to safely dissolve the pulmonary embolism over time.
