The daily expectoration of large amounts of thick, foul-smelling, yellowish-green mucus.
Clinical Details
Because the scarred airways cannot clear normal secretions, the trapped mucus stagnates and becomes chronically infected with bacteria. Patients must cough up this large volume of infected fluid every single day.
