The act of vomiting immediately following a severe coughing spell.
Clinical Details
The extreme physical violence of the coughing fits drastically increases pressure in the chest and abdomen. This intense mechanical pressure, combined with throat irritation, frequently triggers the gag reflex and subsequent emesis.
