A high-pitched, gasping sound made when deeply inhaling immediately after a coughing fit.
Clinical Details
After expelling all the air from their lungs during a severe coughing paroxysm, the patient frantically gasps for air. The rushed airflow passing through the violently swollen vocal cords creates this characteristic sound.
