An infection and inflammation of the inner lining of the heart chambers and valves.
Clinical Details
Circulating yeast cells adhere firmly to the endothelial tissues of the heart, forming massive, friable vegetations on the cardiac valves. These fungal masses progressively destroy the valve leaflets and can rapidly embolize to the brain.
