A visibly rounded, bulging chest shape resembling the shape of a barrel.
Clinical Details
Because the damaged lungs permanently trap air and lose their natural elasticity, the rib cage remains fixed in a partially expanded state. The patient's chest eventually remodels to accommodate these chronically hyper-inflated lungs.
