Definition
An abnormally low concentration of dissolved oxygen in the arterial blood.
Clinical Details
A thick, foamy exudate fills the alveolar spaces, blocking the diffusion of oxygen into the pulmonary capillaries. This rapidly progressing deficit requires immediate supplemental oxygen therapy.
