Clinical Details
This alarming symptom occurs when an adult Loa loa worm actively migrates directly across the subconjunctival tissue of the eye. The physical movement of the centimeter-long worm is highly irritating, causing intense tearing, localized conjunctival hyperemia, and severe psychological distress for the patient. Despite the dramatic presentation, it rarely causes permanent visual impairment.
