Definition
Acute, painful inflammation of one or more lymph nodes.
Clinical Details
This symptom occurs periodically as acute attacks triggered either by the death of adult worms or by secondary bacterial infections exploiting the compromised lymphatic drainage. The affected lymph nodes become exquisitely tender, warm, and swollen, often accompanied by red inflammatory streaks tracking up the limb. These painful episodes force patients to lose significant time from work or school.
