Chronic inflammatory skin changes characterized by altered pigmentation, atrophy, and lost elasticity.
Clinical Details
Decades of relentless microfilarial migration and the continuous immune assault utterly destroy the dermal architecture and elastic fibers. This leads to distinct pathological stages, including 'leopard skin' depigmentation on the shins and profoundly atrophied, wrinkled skin termed 'lizard skin'. The permanent loss of dermal elasticity severely alters the patient's physical appearance.
