Clinical Details

Unabsorbed carbohydrates ferment upon reaching the bacterial flora of the colon, producing massive amounts of metabolic gas. This causes significant bloating, abdominal distension, and the passage of foul-smelling flatus. It contributes to the general abdominal discomfort experienced by patients.
