Clinical Details
The autoimmune vasculitis heavily damages the dense capillary beds surrounding the extremely thin skin of the upper eyelids. This vascular destruction causes a dusky, purple discoloration and massive fluid leakage, making the eyes appear heavily bruised and physically swollen. This highly unique, lilac-colored facial rash is a hallmark clinical indicator for diagnosing the specific condition.
