Clinical Details
The aggressive autoimmune destruction of melanocytes frequently extends deep down into the reservoirs located within the hair follicles. As the newly growing hair shaft is entirely deprived of pigment, it grows out completely white or silver. This localized whitening is frequently the very first noticeable symptom in younger patients developing the disease.
