Raised, inflamed, and distinct red patches of skin covered with a thick, silvery scale.
Clinical Details
Because the skin cells multiply ten times faster than normal, the dead cells cannot shed quickly enough and physically pile up. The underlying autoimmune inflammation causes the base of these thick lesions to appear bright red and angry. These characteristic plaques most frequently develop on the extensor surfaces of the elbows and knees.
