Frequent, loose bowel movements heavily mixed with visible blood and mucus.
Clinical Details
The bacteria aggressively invade the epithelial cells of the colon, forcefully multiplying inside them until the cells physically burst. This widespread cellular destruction leaves the colonic lining raw, heavily ulcerated, and bleeding profusely into the gut lumen. The patient repeatedly expels small volumes of fluid consisting primarily of blood, pus, and necrotic cellular debris.
