A complete lack of tactile or thermal sensation within the affected skin patches.
Clinical Details
The bacteria aggressively invade and slowly destroy the superficial sensory nerves supplying the hypopigmented skin lesions. This precise neural destruction renders the skin completely numb, unable to feel a pinprick, heat, or cold. Patients frequently suffer severe, unnoticed burns or cuts because their warning pain systems have been dismantled.
