Clinical Details
When the ascending bacterial infection causes chronic inflammation of the cervix and deeper pelvic structures, the tissues become highly friable. The physical mechanical impact of sexual intercourse upon these sensitive, swollen tissues triggers deep, aching pain. This symptom often signals that the infection has progressed beyond the lower genital tract.
