Clinical Details
Viral replication in the limbic system and cerebral cortex destroys neurons responsible for regulating behavior and emotion. This widespread brain damage causes patients to alternate between periods of lucidity and extreme, violent delirium. It affects the majority of patients exhibiting the classic furious form of the disease.
