Definition
The abnormal enlargement of lymph nodes, typically due to an active infection.
Clinical Details
The virus replicates intensely within the lymphatic system, particularly in the nodes behind the ears and back of the neck. This rapid multiplication of immune cells causes the nodes to swell, becoming tender and palpable. This symptom often precedes the rash and can persist for weeks.
