Definition
A flat, red area on the skin covered with small, confluent bumps.
Clinical Details
The immune system's T-cells target virus-infected cells in the tiny blood vessels of the skin. This cell-mediated immune response causes inflammation and capillary leakage, resulting in the characteristic red rash. The eruption usually begins on the face and spreads downward across the body.
