Definition
An eruption of small, fluid-filled blisters appearing on the skin surface.
Clinical Details
The virus infects epidermal cells, causing them to balloon and detach from underlying layers, forming fluid-filled sacs. These intensely itchy blisters erupt in successive crops over several days, spreading outward from the torso. The vesicles eventually crust over and heal within a week or two.
