Dark, sticky feces containing partly digested blood.
Clinical Details
If the ulcer eats deep enough into the stomach wall, it can rupture a blood vessel, causing internal bleeding. The blood travels through the digestive tract, where stomach acids and enzymes turn it black and tarry. This is a severe symptom indicating an active, bleeding ulcer.
