Definition

Bone breaks resulting from minor trauma that would not normally cause a fracture.

Clinical Details

Because the internal scaffolding of the bone is severely degraded, it cannot withstand normal mechanical loads. Simple actions like bending over, coughing, or experiencing a minor fall from standing height can snap a bone. These fractures most commonly occur in the hip, wrist, or spine.
