The occurrence of dark discolorations on the skin from minor trauma.
Clinical Details
A healthy liver produces specialized proteins that are essential for normal blood clotting. As liver tissue is replaced by non-functional scar tissue, the production of these clotting factors plummets. Consequently, patients bleed easily and develop large bruises from very minor bumps.
