Definition
Pain in the arms or legs caused by inadequate blood flow during exercise.
Clinical Details
When plaque builds up in the peripheral arteries, it limits the oxygen supplied to the limb muscles. During physical activity, the oxygen-starved muscles begin to cramp and ache intensely. The pain typically resolves rapidly once the physical activity is halted.
